Presentation guidelines

5-minute Speed Talks and 15-minute presentations

Presentations should be prepared on or be compatible with PowerPoint and should include a title page as the first slide. The title page should include the presentation title and author list clearly noting the presenting author’s name.

We recommend using an easy-to-read font in a large size and large figures and images (if used), so that presentations are readable from a distance.

Note that time-limits will be strictly enforced. 15-minute presentations should ideally last 12-13 minutes, leaving 2-3 minutes for audience questions. 5-minute speed talks should not provide time for audience questions.

The audience at Drought Resilience 2025 includes attendees from a range of scientific and non-scientific disciplines as well as lay people. Presentations should, therefore, avoid using technical jargon unless it is clearly explained so that the information presented is as accessible as possible to a broad audience.

We recommend that final slides include appropriate acknowledgements as well as a contact email and, if appropriate, a link (for example, a QR code or web address) to published work or further information. We strongly suggest and request that presentations include an acknowledgement of the traditional owners of the land where the research was conducted and/or where the authors work, if appropriate.

Presenters should supply PowerPoint compatible files on USB to the Drought Resilience 2025 IT support as early as possible after registrations open on Wednesday 9 July. Presenters will have the opportunity to review presentations at this stage. We strongly recommend that presenters have a back-up copy of presentations on a second USB or other device, in case of file corruption.

Please note that, in accordance with the Drought Resilience 2025 Code of Conduct, presentations may not include any content that is in any way demeaning, discriminatory or offensive. This includes but is not limited to content that is demeaning, discriminatory or offensive related to age, appearance or body size, employment status, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, individual lifestyle, marital status, national origin, physical or cognitive ability, political affiliation, pregnancy or potential pregnancy, sexual orientation, race or religion. Presentations including such content will be stopped at the organising committee’s discretion and the author(s) may be removed from the conference and/or related events without warning or refund.

Posters

All posters should be A1 and portrait orientation.

Posters must include a Title, Author list and Acknowledgements (if applicable). We strongly suggest and request that posters include an acknowledgement of the traditional owners of the land where the research was conducted and/or where the authors work, if appropriate.
